Bell Let’s Talk Day, a national initiative aimed at raising funds, increasing awareness, reducing stigma and changing people’s behaviours and attitudes about mental illnesses in communities across Canada. Bell Let’s Talk Day also provides CMHA Lambton Kent an opportunity to share information about the local expertise, services and programs it provides in support of people living with mental illnesses or mental health issues.
“Mental illnesses can be treated effectively but we need to keep fighting to eliminate stigma and discrimination so that people will feel comfortable seeking help,” said Alan Stevenson, CEO, CMHA Lambton Kent. “For example, nearly half of those who feel they have suffered from depression or anxiety have never gone to see a doctor about their problem. We need to change our attitudes so we can treat our mental health like our physical health.”
