Cheeky Monkey First Friday

The March 3rd First Friday at Cheeky Monkey, will be the debut performance at the downtown records and more store for the local band Round House.

Consisting of four St. Pat's high school friends, Round House members range in ages 16 and 17. They may be young in years, but not in experience and musical talent. Jared Parke (lead singer/rhythm guitar) took 5 years of lessons from Stephen Dumont. As did Bryce Abrams (Bass). Ryan Ethridge (lead guitar) took 4 years of lessons from Van Goozen Music while Brock Round (Drums) took 6 years of lessons off of Gary McCracken who was in Max Webster.

They have only been together as a cohesive band for a bit over a year but have played at many bars, festivals and house parties. You may have seen them at Antonio's, Bottoms Up, Eclipse or Dempseys. They also have played during Bridge Bash, Captain Kidd Days, Kinstock and Ribfest. One of their biggest highlights so far was getting to meet and open up for Sloan at Kinstock.

The Round House playlist is very diverse. It includes classic rock cover songs along with some originals. They perform songs by many of their personal favourites such as Jimi Hendrix, CCR, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Recently, they had the opportunity to go into a respected recording studio in Ridgetown to lay down a few of their original tracks. Hopefully a CD will result from it in the not too distant future.

Round House has the drive, dedication and talent that will grow a solid fan base and get them a wealth of gigs to come. Stop into Cheeky Monkey located at 130 Christina Street North, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. during the March 3rd First Friday to hear and see for yourself why you too should become a fan.
