Germain Park Assault

On February 27, 2017, at approximate 2:15 pm, members of the Sarnia Police Service Uniform Patrol responded to an assault taking place at Germain Park in the City of Sarnia. During the encounter a 25 year old male attended his back yard which connects to Germain Park where he encounters his first would be attacker.

As the victim approaches the back yard he meets the first suspect who is squared off in a fighter’s stance. As this is going on the second suspects ambushes the victim from behind, striking him with a tire iron to the back of the head.

From there both suspects begin striking the victim, one with the tire iron and the other with a bat of some sort. Fortunately a witness, who happened to be in the area, saw what was going on and yelled for the attackers to stop. The witness was able to also call for 911 as the suspects ran from the area and were then seen jumping into a vehicle and leaving.

The victim sustained significant injuries but they were none life threatening. He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries and has since been released.

The first suspect in this assault, a 25 year old male, was arrested on March 1, 2016, and has since been taken to court for a bail hearing. He is facing charges for aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, 3 counts breach of probation, possession of a controlled substance, and several other weapons related charges.

The second suspect is described as having long hair down to his mid back, darker coloured skin, dark rimmed glasses and a tattoo of some sort on one of his forearms. Also, the second suspect left behind items that have since been sent away for Forensic DNA analysis and police are awaiting the return of the DNA profile.
