Egg Farmers Donate 600 Dozen Eggs

Recently the Lambton Essex Kent Egg Farmers donated 600 dozen eggs to The Inn of The Good Shepherd. Why 600? The Inn had won an online promotion created by Egg Farmers of Ontario Beat Hunger contest, winning 600 dozen eggs.

The Lambton Essex Kent Egg Farmers were so excited that The Inn won the contest, they matched the win.

This group of Egg Farmers also donated eggs to the Chatham Outreach food bank, and the Windsor Essex Food bank Association.

The Lambton Egg Farmers and The Inn of The Good Shepherd have always been partners, and this incurred further egg donations to other food bank and eventually evolved into a provincial model program.

Ontario’s egg farmers have a strong record of donating to Food Banks and in celebration of its 50th anniversary, Egg Farmers of Ontario (EFO) introduced a new egg donation program in collaboration with the Ontario Association of Food Banks.

Egg Farmers of Ontario has committed to ensure that at least $250,000 worth of eggs will be donated to the OAFB during the first year of the new voluntary program.

The Inn of The Good Shepherd provides to over 2000 people each month through use of the food bank. Over 700 of these are children.

Executive Director Myles Vanni recently said, “Receiving fresh eggs from the Lambton Essex Kent Egg Farmers in addition to the Egg Farmers of Ontario was a welcome addition to our food bank. Protein is an essential, but often limited food item in food banks.”What an EGGcellent donation!
