SARNIA FIRE RESPOND TO A REPORT OF A STRUCTURE FIRE

On Wednesday March 15, 2016, Sarnia Fire Rescue Services (SFRS) responded to a report of a structure fire on the 200 block of Confederation Street.

Callers advised of heavy smoke coming from the ground floor unit of the four unit apartment. Firefighters entered the house and quickly extinguished the fire. All of the occupants were already safely out on the house.

Crews managed to quickly knock down the fire and prevent damage from spreading to the other units of the apartment.

A damage estimate is unavailable and the cause of the fire also has not been determined at this time. Members of SFRS Fire Prevention and The Ontario Fire Marshal Office are currently investigating.

Sarnia Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone that only working smoke alarms can help save lives. A working smoke alarm is required on every storey of your home.
