Drug Arrest in Sarnia

Two males from Sarnia have been arrested for several offences after being observed by Sarnia Police Officers prowling at night in the area of Oxford Street and Lincoln Park.

On March 24, 2017 at approximately 1:50am, officers from the COPPS Unit spotted a vehicle known to them parked and unoccupied in the area. Surveillance was conducted on this vehicle and within minutes the suspects were spotted by these officers exiting between residences on Oxford Street. Officers watched as they walked northbound across front lawns and then returned to their parked vehicle. Minutes later, they exited their vehicle and walked southbound on Oxford Street towards another residence on London Road. They were seen walking up the driveway and around this property then returning to their vehicle once again. They exited a third time and disappeared into another property on Oxford Street and again returned to their vehicle shortly afterwards.

At this time officers placed both men under arrest for Trespassing at Night. After searching both accused and their vehicle, the following quantity of drugs were seized:

  • 1.7gm of methamphetamine

  • 9.9gm of marihuana

  • three 8 mg Hydromorphone tablets

  • one 18 mg Hydromorphone capsule

James Stewart Viggers, age 52, and David Ross Baxter, age 44, were arrested and charged with Trespassing at Night. Additionally, Viggers was charged with three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Baxter was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Breach of Probation. Both men were held for bail hearings.
