Police Seeking Public Assistance

In addition to the turf damage Canatara Park experienced early Monday morning, Mike Weir Park in Bright’s Grove has also fallen victim to extensive, willful green space damage.

Damage at Mike Weir Park includes extensive turf destruction in several grassed areas around the park. A damage estimate is not known at this time. Parks and Recreation Director, Rob Harwood, is appealing to all Sarnia-Lambton residents to contact Crime Stoppers or Sarnia Police Services with any information about this willful destruction of property. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in the protection of all our valued community spaces. “Unnecessary damage to our community parks results in costly repairs and redirects funds away from positive park improvements, such as new playground equipment,” explains Rob Harwood. Residents are invited to help support our local parks at Community Parks Clean-Up Day, April 22, 2017. Staff are appealing to local landscaping contractors for any volunteer assistance that can be donated. Please visit www.sarnia.ca, www.sarniagives.com or call 519-332-0330 ext. 3201 to register for the Community Parks Clean-Up Day.
