On April 8, 2017, the Sarnia Police Service received a report regarding damage to the main field at Canatara Park in the City of Sarnia. Upon arrival officers observed that someone had entered the main field from its south end with their vehicle and began doing “burn outs” through the wet grass and soil causing extensive damage to the field which was pegged at somewhere over $5000.00.
Since then and thanks to the public’s assistance members of the Criminal Investigation Branch and COPPPs Unit were able to determine a suspect and on April 20, 2017, a 22 year old suspect, from Sarnia, was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with mischief over $5000.00. He is now awaiting a court date for May 30, 2017 at 9:30 am.
