Surveillance Pays Off

On April 26, 2017, members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit were on patrol in Canatara Park in the City of Sarnia when the officers came upon a pickup truck that was reported stolen by Huron Ontario Provincial Police.

The officers did not observe anyone by the vehicle at the time so decided to take up a position of surveillance to see if someone would attend the truck. After several hours, of patiently waiting, officers observed a white pickup pull up to the stolen truck and a male exit the white pickup and walk to the stolen vehicle.

Once the officers made contact with the suspect that was approaching the stolen truck, and told him that he was under arrest, the suspect began to run from the police but police were able to follow him. The white pickup truck had come around to attempt to pick up the suspect that approached the stolen truck. Officers were able to stop the white pickup and ultimately arrest the suspect with no further incident.

The suspect was identified by police as Christian Harvey Page (19 years of age). He was charged with Breach of Recognizance and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 for the stolen truck.

Page also had outstanding warrants for charges ranging from failing to attend court, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Breaches of Recognizance, break and enter along with other charges.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing on today’s date.
