SCOTT JONES JOINS STING AS SKILLS COACH

Sarnia Sting General Manager, Nick Sinclair has announced that Scott Jones will join the team’s hockey operations staff as the Director of Skill and Player Development. Jones, who through his involvement with Total Package Hockey has worked with high-end prospects like Travis Konecny, Bo Horvat and Lawson Crouse, comments on joining the Sting, “This is a very exciting day for both Total Package Hockey and myself. The Sting organization, under the leadership of Derian and David, as well as General Manager Nick Sinclair, is first class and the family-like atmosphere is very welcoming. I look forward to working with the coaches and management on furthering the players’ development, creating more winning seasons and future professional players. With this partnership I also hope to create more development opportunities for the younger players in the Lambton area through the Sting and Total Package Hockey.” Scott has been coaching and training hockey players for over 15 years. His experience and attention to detail has allowed him to develop many players from beginners to NCAA, OHL and NHL players. While currently serving as a skills coach with the Washington Capitals, Jones gained the majority of his player development experience during his time as a Player Development Consultant with the Hershey Bears; the Capitals’ AHL affiliate. Sinclair comments on today’s announcement, “We’re excited to add a coach of Scott’s caliber to our staff. As we continuously work to enhance our overall program, we felt that it was very important that we bring in someone to focus solely on skill and player development. Scott’s overall experience and passion for the game will be a welcome addition to our hockey operations group.”
