A 29 year old male from Sarnia was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample after striking a parked car. On July 15th, 2017 at approximately 6:30pm, Sarnia Police were called to the area of Vidal Street South, just north of Talfourd Street in regards to a motor vehicle collision where a southbound vehicle struck a parked taxi cab. On arrival, the officer located the involved driver who suffered minor injuries from the collision. The officer also observed signs of intoxication and placed the male under arrest for Impaired Driving. The driver was then transported to hospital and treated for his injuries. During this time, he refused to provide a breath sample and was also charged accordingly with Refusal. The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear. It should be noted that refusing to provide a breath sample carries the same penalty and Impaired Driving or Over 80 upon conviction.
