Female Threatens Officers with Knives

On Sunday, September 17, 2017, at approximately 11:15 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service general patrol attended an apartment at an address on Roger Street regarding death threats made by the occupant of the apartment. Once the officers arrived on scene they dealt with a very hostile female who refused to open the door. The female, who was 40 years of age, was very uncooperative and began threatening the officers verbally by advising them that she would use knives to harm them.

As the officers stood by at the door they could hear what sounded like the knives being stabbed into the door. Out of concern for officer and public safety, members of the Sarnia Police Service Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team were called in to take over the scene and continue with the situation. The female continued to yell and scream and could be seen in her apartment holding knives in her hands through windows. The female also began throwing objects at windows, breaking them in the process.

At approximately 3:10 pm members of the Sarnia Police Service Emergency Response Team made entry into the apartment from both the balcony and the apartment door. The female was immediately taken into custody. She was transported to hospital to ensure her wellbeing but was shortly thereafter released and transported back to the Sarnia Police Headquarters.

She is being held in custody pending her bail hearing later this morning for six counts of uttering threats, two counts of assault with a weapon, and one count of mischief over five thousand.
