Bluewater Big Band Blast feat. Michael Vanhevel

The best of the Big Band swing sounds of Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich, the U.S. Airmen of Note, and many others, will be featured at the upcoming Bluewater Big Band Blast, benefitting the International Symphony Orchestra.
This much anticipated performance is taking place on Sunday, November 12, 2:00 p.m., Imperial Theatre, Sarnia. Old familiar favourites, such as: Tuxedo Junction, made popular by the Glenn Miller Orchestra; Jimmy Webb’s McArthur Park; You Stepped Out of a Dream, recorded by both Stan Kenton and Glenn Miller; Bugler’s Holiday written by Leroy Anderson and arranged for the U.S. Airmen of Note, and many more Big Band era hits will be presented throughout this high-octane afternoon.
The Bluewater Big Band, under the direction of popular theatre Music Director (and ISO trumpeter), Tim Hummel, is a 17-piece jazz/swing band comprised of top-rated professionals from Toronto through to Detroit. Several are area music teachers, and past/present members of the International Symphony Orchestra. The group has been heard in numerous venues, including the Mitton Street Jazz Festival; Jazz on the River, Port Huron, MI; and the St. Clair Cultural Series, St. Clair, MI.
Crooner Michael Vanhevel, will be teaming up with the Big Band on the 12th, for a number of tunes including: Irving Berlin’s Cheek to Cheek, as heard on Sinatra’s 1959 recording Come Dance with Me; Sinatra’s signature song, Luck be a Lady by Frank Loesser; Come Fly with Me, written especially for Sinatra by Jimmy Van Heusen; a scorching rendition of Me and Mrs. Jones, a recent Michael Bublé release; and many more fabulous hits!
