Warwick Township Council Meeting Summary

WATFORD, ON – At its regular meeting on Monday, October 23, 2017, Warwick Township Council:
Held a Consideration meeting on an addendum to the engineer’s report on the McGill Drain as per the Drainage Act.
Heard a presentation from the YMCA of Sarnia-Lambton on municipal partnership opportunities.
Approved a donation of one hour of non-prime ice time to the North Lambton Secondary School Athletic Associations ‘Unique Auction’.
Directed staff to work with legal counsel to draft an agreement on the proposed donation of 3.5 acres of woodlot lands to the Township of Warwick from Mr. Jim Brandon.
Approved an allowance and process for the application of vegetation growth retardant for the ongoing maintenance of municipal drains.
Approved a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Prevention Program for First Responders and Warwick Township Staff along with Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services for all employees of the Township of Warwick.
Approved an amendment to the Township of Warwick’s Boulevard By-law fee structure: a new fee has been added for the unauthorized removal of a tree on municipal property of $1,500 per tree plus costs of replacement of a mature tree.
Directed staff to contact the Watford Rotary Club to discuss potential locations to accommodate the club’s request to plant of 21 trees on municipal property.
Approved the Township of Warwick’s participation in the Four Townships Initiative for Asset Management Plan enhancements in partnership with the Town of Petrolia, the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc and the Municipality of Brooke-Alvinston; separate grant applications to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities will be made by the municipalities.
Approved the adoption of an investment strategy for the Township of Warwick, effective as of January 1, 2017.
Received and filed an information report on Bill 68 - Modernizing Ontario’s Municipal Legislation Act, 2017.
Approved a partnership agreement for participation in the Electric Vehicle Chargers Ontario Program and the installation of two electric vehicle charging stations at the Watford Arena.
Awarded the tender for the Water Booster Pumping Station (WBPS) to Birnam Excavating Inc. at a cost of $619,160.72 plus HST. Installation of the WBPS will enhance water pressures in the north east quadrant of the Township of Warwick.
Awarded the tender for the McGill Drain 2017 to McNally Excavating for a cost of $159,887.68 plus HST.
Approved a petition to proceed with improvements to the Burchill Drain South Branch under section 78 of the drainage Act and requested that a report be prepared by Spriet Associates before work can proceed.
Noted that the next regular Warwick Township Council meeting is next scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017.
