On June 23, 2018, at approximately 6:10 pm, an officer on patrol was making his way through an alley running behind buildings in the 100 block of Christina Street. The officer observed a male causing mischief to property by producing graffiti on a wall.
As the officer approached the male the suspect fled on his bike. The officer followed the suspect and was able to stop him. At this point the officer began to arrest the suspect for mischief but as an attempt to handcuff the accused was made the accused pulled away and struggled with the officer. During the struggle the officer cut his hand and later required stitches.
Fortunately the officer was able to catch up to the suspect, a second time, in the area of Christina Street and Charlotte Street. After another brief struggle and assistance from another officer the suspect was brought under control and arrested.
The accused, David Edward Kaczmarek, 32 years of age, was charged with:
Escape lawful custody
Mischief over $5000
Resist Peace Officer
Fail to comply with recognizance.
