Zero Tolerance on Canada Day

The Sarnia Police Service would like to remind the public that alcohol is prohibited at Canatara Park and Centennial Park. A “zero tolerance” approach will be taken on Canada Day if anyone is found in possession of alcohol or illicit drugs. Personal fireworks are also prohibited in these parks. These offences will be dealt with accordingly and can result in seizures, set fines, arrests and criminal charges. A zero tolerance policy will also be taken by Sarnia Police Service when it comes to traffic law violations, unruly patrons and public intoxication.

There will be a strong police presence at both parks on July 1st. The Sarnia Police Mobile Command Post will be set up at the south end of the open field at Canatara Park and later at Front Street between Nelson Street and Maxwell Street. Please do not hesitate to report any matters that you feel need police attention by approaching an officer on scene or by attending the Mobile Command Post. As always, you can also call 911 for emergency matters or report non-emergency matters by calling 519-344-8861 ext 0.

In the past few years, Canada Day attendees have enjoyed the family atmosphere of the many events hosted by the city. Please enjoy these events and act responsibly.

Thank you.
