On November 14, 2018, at approximately 2:00 pm members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS unit were on general patrol and conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle in the area of George Street and Russell Street. The driver of the motor vehicle was determined to be a suspended driver. At this point the driver was arrested for the offence of driving while under suspension. Also present in the motor vehicle was a female passenger. Secondary to the arrest and a search of the motor vehicle the officers located quantities of purple coloured heroin and crystal methamphetamine. The total street value of the two substances is approximately $1000.00. The 29 year old passenger, Michline Judith Domingue, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. The 30 year old driver of the vehicle, Bradley Furtah, was also charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and driving while suspended. In a separate incident, also on November 14, 2018, at approximately 1:30 pm, another member of the Sarnia Police Service COPPs unit conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle, in the 100 block of Christina Street, which was uninsured. The officer realized that two of the three occupants of the motor vehicle were under court conditions not to be in contact with each other. One of the suspects was actually trying to hide her identity by wearing a wig. The two accused were taken into custody. Secondary to the arrest a search of the motor vehicle was conducted and a black backpack was located containing approximately 300 grams of marijuana in Ziploc bags valued at approximately $3000 on the street. The third suspect was taken into custody at this point. Due to this investigation the following individuals have been charged accordingly: 1) Alexander Lee Bannon (male), 25 years of age: two counts of breach of recognizance and one count of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling 2) Kyra Celine Shipley (female), 24 years of age: one count of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling and one count of breach of probation 3) Christian Hamilton George (male), 25 years of age: one count of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling The Sarnia Police Service wishes to remind the public that even though the legalization of recreational marijuana has occurred there are still laws that govern the possession and selling of marijuana. Namely, as per this incident, you are not allowed to possess more than 30 grams of marijuana on your person and because of the fact of how the drug were packaged and the scales that were also found, reasonable grounds were formed to believe that the drug were to be sold. At this time marijuana can only be purchased online via the provincial government dispensary.
