On January 5, 2019, at approximately 5:00 am, members of the Sarnia Police Service COPPS Unit were attempting to locate a male in the 700 block of Roger Street in the City of Sarnia. The suspect was wanted on five outstanding warrants ranging from use of a stolen credit card, to possession of property obtained by crime, breaches, and failing to attend court. As the suspect was observed leaving a residence in the area officers approached him and advised him that he was under arrest. At this time the suspect was on a bicycle and attempted to flee from the police. Fortunately, an officer from the COPPS Unit was also on a bicycle and was able to keep up with the suspect as he attempted to get away. The suspect refused to stop and continued weaving through parking lots and even around parked cruisers in the area. The officer on the bicycle following the accused was able to apprehend him and take him into custody. A search of the suspect located a stolen MasterCard, keys, and tools like a pry bar and screw drivers. The accused, Jason James Gordon, 36 years of age, of Sarnia, has also been charged with resist a peace officer, possession of break and enter instruments, and possession of a stolen credit card. He was held for a bail hearing.
