Sarnia Police Continue Battle With Drugs and Weapons On Our Streets


Members of the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit entered into an investigation regarding suspects that were trafficking powered fentanyl within the City of Sarnia. On January 31, 2019, the Sarnia Police Vice Branch requested and were granted a warrant to search an address in the 200 block of Russell Street South in the City of Sarnia. At approximately 7:20pm, on January 31, 2019, officers made entry into the residence on South Russell Street and located one of the suspects believed to be involved. That individual was taken into custody. Secondary to a search of the residence, officers located the following Controlled Drugs and Substances: -Crystal methamphetamine, totalling 54.49 grams, with a street value of $5,449.00 -Powdered fentanyl, weighing .6 grams, with a street value of $300.00 -Cocaine, weighing 12 grams, totalling $1,440.00 -19 hydromorphone, 30 milligram, capsules, totalling $1,140.00 -Cannabis marihuana, totalling 548.92 grams, with a street value of $5,489.00 The total approximate street value of the drugs involved is $13,818.00. Also of concern, officers located two pairs of brass knuckles, shot gun shells, various knives some of which were “flick knives”, replica BB handguns, a rifle, and various calibres of ammunition. Arrested, charged, and held for bail hearing is one Deanis John Smith, 25 years of age. He faces the following charges: 1) Four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking 2) One count of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling 3) Five counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon 4) Five counts for breaching his probation A warrant has also been requested for the arrest of Dallas Alexander Smith, 23 years of age, the brother of the accused, remains outstanding and is wanted on similar charges.
