Several Impaired Drivers Over the Weekend

On May 25, 2019, at approximately 2:25 am, officers from the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched to the area of Devine Street and Indian Road regarding a possible impaired driver. A witness observed a male stumbling as he was getting into his car and leaving the area southbound on Indian Road at a high rate of speed.
Police were able to locate and stop the suspect vehicle in the area of Confederation Street and Trudeau Drive. As the officer began to investigate the driver grounds were formed to arrest the accused for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver was transported back to the station where samples of breath were taken by a qualified breath technician. Readings indicated that the driver was twice over the legal limit.
The accused, Gordon Kenneth Yates, 50 years of age, from Point Edward, faces one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
On May 25, 2019, at approximately 10:20 pm, an officer observed a motor vehicle squeal its tires and accelerate at a high rate of speed as it left an address in the area of Confederation Street and Brock Street. The vehicle was stopped on Mitton Street. As the officer interacted further with the driver grounds were formed to arrest the accused for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The accused became increasingly belligerent and uncooperative as the investigation continued. Once at the station the accused’s behavior would not permit for a breath sample to be taken.
Zackerie Kenneth Deslauriers, 20 years of age, of Corunna, faces one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of refusal to supply a sample of breath.
Finally, on May 26, 2019, at approximately 8:00 pm, officers attended in the 1300 block area of Blackwell Road regarding a possible impaired driver. Officers located the driver seated in the driver’s seat of her vehicle with keys in hand. As the officer continued to speak with the female suspect and investigate the matter grounds were formed to arrest the accused for care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired.
The accused was transported back to the station where samples of breath were taken by a breath technician. Readings indicated that the accused was over three times the legal limit.
Sinead Cusack, 37 years of age, of Sarnia, faces one count of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and one count of blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
