Sarnia Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu celebrates Oversized Load Corridor funding announcement

(August 7, 2019) MP Marilyn Gladu is pleased to celebrate the funding announcement of the Sarnia-Lambton Oversized Load Corridor (the Project) submitted by The Corporation of the City of Sarnia under the National Trade Corridors Fund (NTCF) Continuous call for trade diversification projects. The project is now eligible for up to $6 million dollars in federal funding. MP Gladu joined with other local officials and industry representatives, as well as the Hon. Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, at the official announcement today at Sarnia Harbour. “I’m extremely pleased to announce our community has been successful in getting federal funding for this important project. As the Federal Member of Parliament for Sarnia-Lambton, I have been strongly advocating for the Oversized Load Corridor project since 2015. In fact, it was a signature campaign promise that I made to constituents when I first ran for office – promise made, promise kept. It’s important to note that we have been able to work cooperatively at all levels of government and business to see this proposal gain the federal funding required to fully proceed. I also want to acknowledge the efforts of my fellow Working Group members for this proposal, which involved local officials and business leaders from industry. We worked together to ensure this priority project was successful under the National Trade Corridors Fund, and I am excited for the future job opportunities that this project will create for our local economy.” Marilyn Gladu, Member of Parliament (Sarnia Lambton) Federal funding of the Project from the NTCF will be up to 50 percent of total eligible project costs, to a maximum federal contribution of $6,000,000 under this program. Canadian government funding for each project from all sources (i.e. federal, municipal, provincial, and territorial) cannot exceed 100 percent of the project’s total eligible costs. *** Contact: MP Marilyn Gladu (Sarnia-Lambton) (519) 383-6600
