(August 21, 2019) MP Marilyn Gladu welcomes news that BC-based firm Ainsworth Energy Co. LTD plans to build a 1.9 billion-dollar plant in Sarnia. As mentioned in recent media reports, seventy acres of land at Sarnia’s TransAlta site have already been approved for long-term occupancy for the project. The facility will produce low-sulphur, high-octane fuel and create many well paying, full-time jobs. Although site plans and project funding are still being finalized, it has been publicly stated that the two-year construction of the 15,000 barrel-per-day facility could begin as soon as next year.
“From the time that I first dealt with Ainsworth Energy in my role as business director of WorleyParsons, to this exciting announcement now as a Member of Parliament – I am pleased to see more jobs and opportunities come to Sarnia-Lambton. Our local work force and the way the community collaborates are keys to our success in attracting such largescale projects. I hope to see many more positive stories like this for Sarnia-Lambton in the years ahead.”
