Canada Day Food Drive for Inn of the Good Shepherd

Sarnia, ON (June 19, 2020) – The Rotary Club of Sarnia-Lambton After Hours will be taking to the streets on Wednesday, July 1st from 9 am to 12noon to gather food for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Traditionally, the Club collects canned goods throughout the Canada Day parade route, but with festivities being canceled this year, things will look a little different. Don Anderson, President-Elect, and Food Drive Chair stated, “As Rotarians, our motto is ‘Service Above Self’ and we wanted to continue this important tradition, and help out the Inn of the Good Shepherd.”

Plans are underway to have teams of volunteers circulating throughout the City neighbourhoods between 9 am to 12noon on Canada Day. For anyone interested in volunteering, they are asked to visit the Club’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RotarySarniaAfterHours for more information.

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. The Rotary Club of Sarnia Lambton After-Hours (RCSLAH) received their charter on June 5, 2009. The Club embodies the spirit of Rotary, and has embraced societal and demographic changes to make Rotary more accessible to all.

Members range in between mid-20’s to late 50’s, and meet every Thursday from 6 pm to 7pm and due to COVID 19, currently on Zoom. The Club is active, raising money and giving back to the community through events such as their Annual Trivia night held each October at DeGroot’s Nurseries, Duc D’Orleans Boat Cruise, and Wine & Dine draws throughout the year. We are proud to partner with the other Rotary Clubs, the Rotary Club of Sarnia, and Rotary Club of Sarnia-Bluewaterland towards the recent purchase and upgrade of the new playground equipment at Canatera Park.
