Collision Takes Out Hydro Pole


On November 19, 2020, shortly after 11:30 PM, Sarnia Police, Sarnia Fire, and Lambton Paramedics, responded to a single vehicle collision involving a pickup truck in the area of Maxwell Street and Capel Street.


According to the investigation, the pickup truck was northbound on Capel Street when it left the road and rolled over. During the process of leaving the road it struck a hydro poll and a fire hydrant. The collision did cause a power disruption requiring Bluewater Power to attend to repair the damage.


The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken to hospital for observation and later cleared and taken into Sarnia Police custody.

The driver of the vehicle was presented to a qualified breath technician who administered the Intoxilyzer test. According to the test results the suspect was approximately over twice the legal limit.


The accused, Curtis John Plain, 20 years of age, of Sarnia, was charged with impaired operation and for having an alcohol concentration of 80 plus. Mr. Plain’s first appearance will be on January 12, 2021, at 9:30 AM at the Sarnia Court House.

The road re-opened this morning shortly after 6:00 AM.
