Community News Conference - Business Reopening Update

A fourth COVID-19 Community News Conference and Information Session is planned for June 2, 2020 at 11:30am. The City of Sarnia is hosting the event together with the County of Lambton, Lambton Public Health, and Bluewater Health.

As Ontario is re-opening the economy, local businesses are preparing. Industry leaders and small business owners will be sharing their new realities and how their business models are changing in order to protect their staff and citizens.

Local economic business partners and community leaders will provide details on what to expect on the road ahead. Medical experts will also provide local updates on COVID-19 in the Sarnia-Lambton community.

Panelist will include: M.P.P. Bob Bailey, County of Lambton Warden Bill Weber, Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, Bluewater health Chief of Staff Dr. Michel Haddad and County of Lambton Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade.

Rohan Davis, Imperial Sarnia Refinery Manager will outline how the Imperial Sarnia site, one of the region’s largest employers, has been operating during the pandemic and the measures taken to protect hundreds of workers at the facility.

Jason McMichael, President Sarnia & District Labour Council will review how Sarnia’s labour force has weathered the storm of this pandemic and what the way forward looks like.

Leo Stathakis, Owner of John’s Restaurant and Coffee Lodge will describe the impact COVID-19 has had on his customers, employees, and overall business. He will discuss his next steps as the community navigates this pandemic.

The event will be moderated by Julia Oosterman, Chief of Communications and Public Affairs for Bluewater Health, and will include an opportunity for local media representatives to ask questions of panelists.
