Covid-19 Complaints Lead to Charges

“The City of Sarnia recently issued multiple charges under the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA); these charges are linked to individuals who attended multiple outdoor organized public events in contravention of the gathering limits,” says Manager of By-Law Enforcement Services.

Charges came following several complaints of a group violating the COVID-19 gathering limit, through multiple organized outdoor events. By-Law Enforcement, together with Sarnia Police Services, following the provincial directive are taking serious any public complaints.

Since the start of the pandemic By-LawEnforcement staff have received 1676 complaints, and issued 7 charges under either the Emergency Management Civil Protection Act (EMPCA) or ROA.
