Festive R.I.D.E. Program Underway

The Sarnia Police Service has begun its Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program for the Christmas Season. The public will observe Sarnia officers conducting both stationary and mobile R.I.D.E. checks.
On November 29, 2022, members of the Sarnia Police Service conducted a R.I.D.E. Program and stopped several vehicles. Four individuals submitted to roadside screening devices, three of which were below the legal limit.
The fourth individual, a 58-year-old male, from St. Thomas, blew a fail and was taken into custody. The accused was then transported to the station where he also failed the Intoxilyzer and now faces one count of impaired by alcohol and one count of having a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
With the Christmas Season upon us, and individuals attending gatherings, the opportunity to drink and drive will increase.
We would like to remind everyone to please be responsible and choose not to drink and drive. Make arrangements to be driven via taxi or have a designated driver. The choice you make may save a life.
