First Drug Bust of 2020


Officers from the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit have been investigating a female suspect that has been trafficking large amounts of Fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine within the City of Sarnia.

On January 7, 2020, officers from the Vice Unit requested and were granted a warrant to search a residence in the 100 block of Queen Street in the City of Sarnia.

At approximately 10:15 PM members of the Sarnia Police Service Vice Unit and General Patrol made entry into the residence on Queen Street.  Once in the residence officers encountered a large dog, that was brought under control without incident, and four individuals.

Officers conducted a search of the residence and located approximately 6.9 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 7.4 grams of Fentanyl.  The street value of drugs seized is approximately $4,548.00.  Also seized was $1480.00 in cash along with other evidence.

As a result of the investigation two individuals were arrested and charged while the other two were released unconditionally.

Jayne Candice McGuire, 62 years of age, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioids and methamphetamine) and four counts of failing to comply with recognizance. McGuire was held for a bail hearing.

Also charged was a Richard Frederick Hirt, 58 years of age, for possession of a controlled substance (opioid).
