Increased Testing and Priorities in Lambton


Point Edward, ON - Lambton Public Health continues to work with health system partners to monitor the situation in Lambton County. Local and provincial authorities have increased testing with a focus to control and limit outbreaks in Long Term Care facilities and retirement homes.

Current Testing Priorities in Lambton

· All residents and staff in Long Term Care facilities and retirement homes including those who do not have symptoms.

· Symptomatic individuals in the community.

The priority of the healthcare system is being able to test those who are most in need. Not everyone requires testing – individuals to be tested will require a referral. If you think you may need testing, please use one of the following options to determine if a test is required:

· Complete the Ontario Self-Assessment Tool

· Contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000

· Call your health care provider

"Increased testing is expected to produce an increase in the number of positive cases, but the course of action to prevent community spread remains the same," says Dr. Sudit Ranade, Lambton's Medical Officer of Health. "Continue to practice physical distancing at all times because we know COVID-19 is in the community and we want people to continue acting that way."
