Large Fines Issued in Sarnia

The City of Sarnia is committed to the health and safety of the residents of our community. We urge businesses and individuals to comply with the Provincial rules and regulations and we will continue to actively educate business owners, business patrons, and residents about the public health risks of non-compliance.
Should a business owner choose not to comply with the Provincial requirements, Sarnia Police and By-Law Enforcement may issue fines of $880.00 to individuals and $1,255.00 to businesses. Individuals who choose to attend businesses in violation of the grey-lockdown requirements are also subject to an $880.00 fine.
Furthermore, if a business or individual continue to violate the grey-lockdown, they are subject to fines of up to $100,000.00 for an individual and up to $10,000,000.00 for a corporation.
By-Law Enforcement and Sarnia Police worked together this morning to issue fines against a non-compliant business in the community. By-Law is continuing to visit businesses that are not in compliance with the grey-lockdown requirements and will educate business owners and patrons first, and will issue fines should non-compliance continue.
