The Sarnia Police Service along with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal continues to investigate a house fire on Maria Street.
On Sunday December 20th, 2020 at approximately 7:20am, Sarnia Fire and Rescue along with Sarnia Police were dispatched to a structure fire at 227 Maria Street. A small portion of Maria Street just west of Mitton Street is blocked for traffic flow as the scene continues to be held for this investigation. The fire is being treated as suspicious and investigators believe it was set deliberately.
No one was injured in this fire. Unfortunately, the homeowner in this case is uninsured and everything owned was inside the residence during the fire. Sadly, it appears to be a total loss at this time.
Sarnia Police are requesting the public’s assistance in regards to any witnesses, information or persons that would have video surveillance or dash cam footage in and around this area during the time of the incident.
If you have any information with respect to this case, please contact Detective Constable Halfpenny of the Sarnia Police Service, Criminal Investigations Division at 519-344-8861 ext. 6213 or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
