Officers Render Assistance To Distraught Man


On June 19, 2020, at approximately 5:00 AM, officers received a call regarding a male who was distraught and threatening to harm himself in the area of Indian Road and Exmouth Street. Information received was that the man was carrying a jerry can full of gas, a lighter, and threatening to set himself on fire.


As officers spoke to the man attempting to calm him down and de-escalate the situation another officer was able to approach from behind knocking the jerry can out of the man’s hand and securing him so he could not harm himself. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.


The man was transported to hospital and is currently under their care.
