SARNIA (Aug 24, 2020) at 22:20 on Monday Aug 24, 2020, Sarnia Fire Rescue Services (SFRS) responded to a report of smoke in a house in the 800 block of Court Street. One of the occupants arrived home to find smoke in the house and called 911.
SFRS responded with 3 stations and 15 firefighters to this confirmed structure fire. Upon arrival firefighters were told that no one was currently in the home. Firefighters made a quick entry wearing full breathing protection to find the house was full of smoke and high heat. Crews managed to quickly find the fire and apply extinguishment. Other crews were assigned to search & rescue.
There are no injuries to report. After SFRS’ investigation the cause of the fire is determined to be electrical in nature. Damage is estimated to be $200,000.
Sarnia Fire Rescue wants to remind everyone that working smoke alarms do save lives.
