A 54 year old female from Sarnia has been arrested and charged after two separate collisions on August 29th, 2020 in the City of Sarnia.
The first was a hit and run collision that occurred at approximately 6:40pm at the intersection of Christina Street and Michigan Avenue. One vehicle remained at the intersection while the other vehicle failed to stay at the scene. Within a short period of time, officers attending this location were notified of a second collision involving a vehicle that had struck a house in the area of Christina Street and Lakeshore Road resulting in extensive property damage. The vehicle in this case was located partially on the roof a residence and it had also struck another parked vehicle in the driveway.
It was determined that the vehicle on the roof of this home was the same vehicle that failed to stop at the first collision. The investigation also revealed that the driver responsible for both collisions was impaired by alcohol and that her blood alcohol concentration was more than 3.5 times the legal limit. The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance and released the following day with non-life threatening injuries. Fortunately, no else was injured as result of these collisions.
On September 15, 2020, as a result of this investigation, the Sarnia Police Traffic Unit has charged Andrea Lynne Woolfrey with the following criminal offences:
Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
Impaired Operation of a Conveyance
Operation of Conveyance with 80mg of Alcohol of More in 100ml of Blood
The accused was later released on an Undertaking.
The Sarnia Police Service Traffic Unit would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.
